Our club hut Clwt-y-Bel is an old converted cottage near the small village of Deiniolen situated between Llanberis and Bethesda. The hut was bought at auction as a run-down farm house in 1963 after which the club set about turning it into a classic climbers’ hut. Ever since then it has been used regularly by club members and visiting outdoor pursuits enthusiasts.
The hut sleeps 18 in three bedrooms with bunk beds and has two toilets and a hot shower. The kitchen has all the usual facilities to cater for 18 people. The hut is a great base for our members to explore Snowdonia National Park and for holding many social activities. We also hire the mountain hut to other outdoor groups. If you are interested in hiring the hut exclusively for your group, please check the availability calendar here where you can also submit a booking enquiry.
Funds raised from renting out Clwt-y-Bel are ploughed back into maintenance and an upgrading programme. In recent years the hut has benefited from LED lighting upgrades, a new carpet in the lounge and recently solar panels and storage heaters in some areas to improve comfort.
