Some of our day meets are now happening and the local Tuesday evening local walk programme has been re-instated. But please don’t take the provisional dates in the calendar too literally. Email mail@shrewsburymc.com for up to date information.

The SMC is a long established group of friends with a love for the mountains and the outdoors. We currently have around 100 members of all ages and abilities. We meet every Tuesday evening, all year round, for a short and sociable walk around the Shropshire Hills ending with a visit to a local country pub.  The climbers also meet on Thursday evenings; outdoors in the summer and indoors in winter  or when the weather is bad.

We also organise day walks in nearby mountain areas every month and regularly throughout the year we visit our club hut in Snowdonia. We also have weekend or longer trips to our favourite destinations such as the Lake District, Scotland, the Alps and Spain to name a few. Check out our latest bi-monthly newsletter to find out more about the SMC and for taste of our activities check out our events calendar.

I have been to Scotland for a week in Feb every year for the last 37 years ( except one) and this was clearly the worst week for weather. No-one got up any Munro or Corbett although a couple of lower hills were achieved. The bikers biked and others stuck to the forest trails. All 18 of us still had a great time in our amazing rented mansion at Achnacloich though. Better luck next year! ... See MoreSee Less
